About
Biography
Carol Chambers was born in Singapore and grew up in different countries in Asia. Her first art impressions were classical Asian temple paintings. Moving to England to school, completing a BA in Philosophy at the University of London, she took advantage of being allowed to attend classes at the Slade School of Fine Art. It was there that she began studying drawing and sculpture.
Over the next six years, she lived in Spain and Eastern Europe and traveled the world, from New Zealand to Russia to the head-hunting tribes of the Bornean jungle, sometimes working her passage on cargo ships. During these travels, she visited many of the great museum and gallery collections of the world.
In 1992 she came to the US and made her home in Northern California. During this time, she came across David Leffel's work and teaching. She attended her first workshop with him in 1997, and her painting took on a new focus. Carol lives in the Sierra Foothills of Northern California.
